Daily itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Lhasa - airport/train station to pick up passengers and check into a hotel

Welcome to Xizang! Upon arrival, our friendly guide and driver will warmly welcome you at the airport and present you with the traditional Xizang white scarf "Kata". As long as you drive on the highway for an hour (70 kilometers), the driver will take you to a comfortable hotel in the center of Lhasa.

After checking into the hotel, take time to rest and adapt to the altitude (3650 meters) to ensure a good and healthy start to your high-altitude journey.

Day 2: Lhasa City Tour - Visiting Zhebang Temple and Sera Temple Debate

Today, you will explore two unique temples in Lhasa, Zhebang Temple and Sera Temple, both of which provide unique insights into Tibetan Buddhism. You will visit Buddhist temples, Buddhist academies, and the kitchens of monks, witnessing how they engage in specialized debates to learn Buddhist teachings.

Sera Monastery is renowned for its vivid Buddhist debates, showcasing the essence of Tibetan Buddhism. Monks use exaggerated body language, like dancing, to discuss Buddhist philosophy and showcase their knowledge in a spirited way.

In the evening, the tour guide will accompany the tour group to the traditional Xizang restaurant to enjoy the welcome dinner, marking the beginning of your trip to Xizang.

Day 3: Lhasa City Tour - Visit Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple

Today, let's explore the treasure of Lhasa - the Potala Palace, which is the former residence of the Dalai Lama and is known as the tallest palace in the world. Jokhang Temple and Bakuo Street are both the centers of Xizang's belief, and both are listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO.

Potala Palace, towering on the red hills in the center of Lhasa, was once the religious and political center of Xizang. When you climb 365 steps to reach the main building, you will explore the front political hall, prayer hall, and tomb pagoda of the Dalai Lama. Here, you will see eye-catching murals and exquisite Buddha statues, which show the wealth and treasure accumulated in ancient Xizang.

Jokhang Temple is considered to be the most sacred place in Xizang and the destination for Tibetans to make pilgrimages all their lives. The Jokhang Temple is highly respected for its 12 year old statue of Shakyamuni. You can stroll along Buckle Street with pilgrims and feel the soul of the city. The tour guide will also take you to the local Xizang teahouse, so that you can deeply understand the local social culture.

Note: Due to the official appointment required for visiting the Potala Palace, we are unable to confirm the specific time for booking tickets to the Potala Palace in advance. The order of the itinerary can be adjusted.

The fourth day: Lhasa Jiaze Shigatse Yangjiao Lake, Karola Glacier

It takes about 7-8 hours (340 kilometers) by car to reach Shigatse.

Along the way, you will visit two stunning natural landscapes - Yangzhuoke Lake and Corolla Glacier. You will travel 20 kilometers along the gradually disappearing shoreline, with beautiful scenery along the way. We will stop at a village by the lake, where you can walk into the homes of farmers by the lake, explore their families, and enjoy a pleasant farmhouse lunch.

After lunch, drive for about an hour to visit one of the most beautiful glaciers in Xizang - Karola Glacier. The huge tongue of ice extends to the roadside, like a frozen waterfall hanging on the road, above your head.

Along Karola Glacier, through Manla Lake and Gyantse Ancient Town, you can go to Shigatse, the second largest city in Xizang.

Day 5: Shigatse - Dingri - Mount Everest Base Camp - Jiawula Scenic Area, Mount Everest Base Camp

After breakfast, we will drive 6.5 hours (330 kilometers) to the summit of the world - Mount Everest.

Along the way, you will visit several scenic spots where you can catch a glimpse of Mount Everest.

Overnight at Everest Base Camp (EBC) is the climax of the journey.

Starting from Shigatse, you will see rural farmland and villages. In approximately 4 hours, you will arrive in Dingri County, where you will see Mount Everest for the first time from the Dingri Observatory. After entering the Everest Scenic Area, you will enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the the Himalayas from the Guawula Pass. The 7000 to 8000 meter high peaks of the the Himalayas stand proudly above the sea of clouds, creating a magnificent and awe inspiring spectacle.

Next, you will continue along the dedicated road leading to Mount Everest, as the mountain grows larger and closer, until you reach your northern base. From the base camp, Mount Everest stands in front of you like a huge pyramid. We will strive to reach the headquarters of Mount Everest before sunset, giving you the opportunity to witness the magnificent natural phenomenon of the sunset casting golden colors on the mountains.

Attention: In winter, when the tent cabins at the headquarters of Mount Everest are closed, we will move our accommodation to the nearest village, Bassoon Village.

Day 6: Everest Dingya Shigatse East Viewing Platform, Farewell Dinner

Stroll around the headquarters and savor the beautiful moments of the morning. After breakfast, the tour guide will take you to visit the world's highest temple, Rongbuk Monastery. Rongbu Temple is famous for the place where the waves engulfed the last piece of land in the movie 2012. It is also an excellent location to capture the natural and cultural landscapes of Mount Everest.

After leaving Mount Everest, we will take you to the Xilin Observation Platform to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the eastern slope of Mount Everest and Mount Luozi, pass through the ancient city of Sakya, and then return to Shigatse.

After arriving in Shigatse in the evening, the tour guide will invite you to share a traditional Tibetan dinner and celebrate the successful completion of your trip to Mount Everest. You will have the opportunity to taste local traditional cuisine while enjoying the unique folk songs and dances of Shigatse.

Day 7: Shigatse - Lhasa - Tashilhunpo Temple, the Yarlung Zangbo River

On the last morning after returning to Lhasa from Mount Everest, you will visit Tashilhunpo Temple, the largest temple in western Xizang. It has always been the location of the Panchen Lama, known for its magnificent scale and architecture. It boasts the world's largest gilded bronze statue, the pagoda of the Panchen Lama, and exquisite Buddhist murals.

After visiting Tashilhunpo Temple, we will return to Lhasa along the the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Day 8: Departing from Lhasa - airport/train station drop off

Your trip to Xizang officially ends today, and we will accompany you to the airport/railway station. We are very grateful to spend this wonderful time with us in Xizang. Wishing you a safe journey!

Terms and Conditions:
The above prices are for private double/double room tours during the off-season. The price may vary depending on the travel date, number of group members, hotel level, itinerary items, and possible exchange rate fluctuations

Foreigners (including overseas Chinese) need to provide information to the Xizang Tourism Administration to apply for the Xizang Tourism License. You need to provide the documents according to our guidance.
If you come to China for tourism with an "L" Chinese tourist visa, you need to provide clear and complete passport page images and Chinese visa images.
If you work, study, reside, or visit China for business purposes, in addition to your passport and visa image, you also need to provide proof of your Chinese company or school.
If you plan to enter Xizang directly from Nepal, you need to go to the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu in person to apply for a Chinese visa (30 days for a single entry). Please visit our local office in Kathmandu at least 3 working days in advance, and we will arrange all Chinese visa application procedures for you. If you previously held a Chinese visa, your existing visa will be revoked upon obtaining a new visa. In addition to the visa fee charged by the embassy, you will also need to pay an additional $20 visa processing service fee.
The entire procedure is complete, you just need to hand over your documents to our travel agency. The application deadline is 10 working days before the departure of the travel group. If you want to go to Gangrinpoche, you need to send us the documents 15-20 working days in advance.
After all the approval procedures are completed, we will send the Xizang Travel Permit to your designated address (only in China) by email or mail. When you board the train/plane, the port staff will check your Xizang Tourism License, and please keep it properly.

Travel Notice
1. Before applying for a Xizang travel permit, please ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
2. To enter Xizang from Kathmandu, you need to apply for a Chinese visa in Kathmandu. Please do not apply in your home country in advance. If the tourist previously held a long-term valid Chinese visa, they will be replaced by a 30 day valid group tourist visa when applying in Kathmandu.
3. Xizang only accepts RMB. If you need Chinese yuan, you can exchange it for US dollars locally or withdraw money from an ATM.
4. Before entering Xizang, you should keep healthy and avoid catching cold.
5. When taking transportation to Xizang, the airport and railway station will check the Xizang Travel Permit. Please keep this official document safe and avoid writing or scribbling on it.
6. Before traveling to Xizang, please confirm that you have received the Tibet Travel Card and verify your personal information.
7. People with severe hypertension, heart disease, asthma and pregnant women are not recommended to travel to Xizang.
8. If you are concerned about altitude sickness after storage, you can take an appropriate amount of Rhodiola oral solution or capsules before storage.
9. Xizang tour is accompanied by a group tour, and you are not allowed to leave the group activities at will.
10. Pack vitamins and regular medications in your luggage.
11. When traveling in high-altitude areas, drink plenty of water, do some slow paced activities, and eat more fruits and vitamin supplements.
When arriving at high-altitude areas, avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
